Standardising Connectivity Across a Growing Multi-Site Retail Estate
Project Overview
Manchester Superstore (MSS) had grown to operate multiple retail sites, each running on a different mix of legacy connectivity technology. With payment systems, telephony and CCTV all depending on reliable internet, the fragmented estate had become a risk - and managing it across multiple suppliers was adding overhead the business did not need.

The Challenge
Manchester Superstore (MSS) operated multiple sites using a mixture of legacy connectivity technologies including ADSL, FTTC and SoGEA services. Each location had evolved independently over time, resulting in different hardware, unmanaged routers and inconsistent service levels across the estate.
This fragmented approach created challenges for management and support teams. Limited visibility of network infrastructure made troubleshooting difficult, whilst the lack of resilience exposed critical services - telephony, payment systems and CCTV - to unnecessary risk. As the business continued to grow, dealing with multiple suppliers and inconsistent setups was becoming unsustainable.
The Solution
itc undertook a complete review of the estate's connectivity infrastructure and developed a standardised technology strategy. With payment systems, CCTV and telephony all depending on the connection staying up, standard broadband was not the right answer - leased lines were deployed across the estate, providing the dedicated bandwidth, guaranteed uptime and formal SLAs that a multi-site retail operation demands.
Networking and telephony hardware were standardised across the estate, creating a fully managed environment supported by remote monitoring and proactive maintenance. Crucially, itc took on the role of single provider and single point of contact across all locations - meaning one call to a named contact resolved issues across the entire estate, without the need to manage multiple supplier relationships.
"itc provide all of our stores with resilient, dependable connectivity that keeps our business running day in, day out. Across multiple locations including our HQ, everything just works. Nasar and the team have been exceptional partners for over a decade."

The Outcome
The modernised infrastructure gave Manchester Superstore complete visibility and control over its connectivity and communications estate. Stakeholders gained confidence that systems were operating consistently across all locations, whilst management benefited from simplified administration and a single team to call.
The standardised environment enabled seamless operation of VoIP telephony, payment processing systems, CCTV and business applications across every site. More than a decade on, itc continues to manage the estate - a relationship built on consistent delivery and a support model where the same people who set it up are still the ones picking up the phone.
