What is the PSTN Switch Off?
The PSTN, or Public Switched Telephone Network, is the copper wire network that has carried UK landline calls for decades. BT Openreach is permanently shutting it down by January 2027.
This affects every business in the UK still using a traditional phone line, an ISDN system, or an older broadband connection like ADSL or FTTC. Once the copper network is switched off, those services will stop working. No dial tone, no internet, no incoming calls. ISDN, the digital network many businesses use for office phone systems, is being retired at the same time. If your phones run on ISDN, they go too.
January 2027 sounds far away, but Openreach is already running stop sell rules across the UK, and migration slots are filling up. The businesses that move early will avoid the rush. The ones that wait will be the ones scrambling.
How itc Manages Your PSTN Migration.
We handle everything, from assessing your current setup to ensuring you are fully switched over before the 2027 deadline.
What you Need to Do.
The good news is that this is entirely manageable if you start now. Here is what the process looks like.
Check your Current Setup.
The first step is understanding exactly what you have. What broadband connection are you on? What phone system are you using? Are there any other devices on your copper line? itc will do this for you, one conversation is all it takes.

Understand your Options.
Depending on your setup, you will need one or both of the following. A full fibre broadband upgrade replacing your copper-based connection with a direct fibre line into your building, delivering faster and more reliable internet. A cloud phone system replacing your ISDN or landline phones with a fully hosted system that runs over your internet connection, accessible from anywhere.

Make the Switch Before the Deadline.
Once you know what you need, itc manages everything. We place the order, coordinate the installation, and make sure your business is fully migrated before January 2027 with no disruption to your working day.
